Challenge

Augusta Symphony is a prestigious orchestra dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape of Augusta, Georgia and surrounding communities through world-class musical performances and educational programs. As the Symphony prepared for its highly anticipated 2024 season, it’s 70th anniversary, it sought to elevate the season’s identity and promote each performance with captivating visual designs. The Symphony aimed to establish an overarching theme to tie all 2024 performances together and generate excitement. Additionally, visually compelling designs were needed for individual performance to showcase unique musical themes, guest performers, and repertoire, facilitating ticket sales across various marketing channels. The major challenge lay in creating a season look that would appeal to a diverse audience, ranging from seasoned concert-goers to families and students.

Concept

After gaining a strong understanding of Augusta Symphony’s season and individual performances, we worked to develop a distinctive visual identity for their 2024 season. Drawing inspiration from the Symphony's selected compositions and 70th anniversary, our team created a dynamic season logo, color palette, and design elements that captured the essence of the season's themes and performances as well as noting their notable anniversary.

Outcome

The unified visual identity for Augusta Symphony's 2024 season provided strong direction and promotional assets for marketing that reinforces the Symphony's brand and fosters recognition and anticipation among audiences. Additionally, the designs created for each performance in the season lineup beautiful capture the essence of the music and performers, generating excitement and intrigue among concert-goers. Eye-catching visuals and compelling messaging effectively conveyed the unique appeal of each concert. Audiences responded positively to the season branding and performance designs. The designs enhanced the overall concert experience, creating anticipation and setting the stage for memorable musical performances.

Challenge

The Augusta Symphony is a perfect example of how we love to become an extension of an organization's team. The Augusta Symphony has marketers and designers on staff, but brought us in to bring new creative energy to their 2023-2024 season branding. The new season branding would need to be dynamic to be used with all the varying performances throughout the year. On top of that, it also had to be flexible enough to be used on program booklets, posters, social media, and other promotional avenues.

Solution: Season Branding

Like any project we work on, our first step is discovery. We dove head first learning all about the Augusta Symphony. Its roots, past seasons, the vision for its future, audience goers, and more. Armed with plenty of background, we got to work concepting looks for the upcoming season. The theme of the season is American Perspectives, with the goal of bring sounds from across the country to life on the stage.We created a season branding system with a unique and flexible color pallet, typography, textures, and imagery. These all came to form through the season logo, social ads, posters, and program book covers. However, since the Augusta team already has the skills to carry out the season's brand, a lot of what we delivered was editable templates, so they could expand on what we created for additional promotional areas.

Season Brand System

For each concert in the season lineup, we conceptualized unique designs that reflect the musical make-up and mood of the performance. While each concert artwork is unique to its program, all performances fall under the unified season theme. As the promotional medium varies, we adapted the designs for use across various marketing mediums, including print materials such as posters, flyers, and programs, as well as digital platforms such as social media graphics, email newsletters, and the Symphony's website. Throughout the design process, Augusta Symphony provided feedback and input to ensure that the designs aligned with the organization's vision and would resonate with its audience. Iterative rounds of refinement allowed for adjustments and enhancements to achieve the desired aesthetic and messaging.
